EVENT HISTORY:
Since 1990 St.Petersburg annually hosts an international conference uniting the topics of business incubators, innovative centers and technologies transfer in small business. For ten years the annual conference in St.Petersburg has become a major event of the national scale in Russia and the CIS in the sphere of innovations, development of infrastructure support to small business via business incubators and innovative centers, transfer of research and technological developments in small business.
1996 – on the initiative of Russian Ministry of Science an exhibition started to be held simultaneously with the conference. This event became the first project in this direction and laid the foundation for recovery of scientific and industrial exhibitions in Russia.
1997 – taking into account the increasing number of conference events, the whole complex of the conferences and the exhibition was held under the joint name – International Exhibition-Congress "High Technologies. Innovations. Investments" (Hi-Tech).
1998 – the concept of the exhibition-congress was approved by the Russian Ministry of Science and Technologies, Administration of St.Petersburg, Russian Academy of Sciences, leading Russian funds whose activities are aimed at assistance to technological development. In December 1998 Governor of St.Petersburg issued Decree No.1328-r of 29.12.98 which officially confirmed the status of the exhibition-congress as annual event aimed at creating a favorable investment climate, development of industrial and research potential in St.Petersburg on the basis of advanced, modern technologies. Also in 1998 the exhibition-congress was awarded with the Symbol of Exhibitions & Fairs of Russia.
1999 – the exhibition-congress "High Technologies. Innovations. Investments" was included in the list of events for realization of agreements between the Russian Ministry of Science and Technologies and Administration of St.Petersburg on cooperation in forming and realizing research and innovative policy for 1999-2001.
2000 – the exhibition was transformed into the High Technologies Week in St.Petersburg. Vice-Premier of Russian Government Ilya Klebanov became Chairman of the Steering Committee.
2001 – the exhibition-congress "High Technologies. Innovations. Investments" was officially included in the program of the St.Petersburg Economic Forum as its practical constituent.
2002 – new exhibition "Training Technologies and Simulators" was included into the High Technologies Week in St. Petersburg. Training and simulations are very important part of branches of industry, connecting with risk for human life, such as aeroflights, transport, electrical and nuclear stations, etc. High technologies must be definitely developed in this field.
2003 – for the first time the exhibition "Intellectual Property of St.Petersburg", which attracted attention both of general public and investors to innovations, providing long-term social, economic and cultural development of the city, was held within the framework of the High Technologies Week. The result of the fundamental and applied researches, demonstrating contribution of St.Petersburg scientists in the development of domestic and world since were represented in the exhibition.
